Raees v/s Kaabil: Shah Rukh Khan defeats Hrithik Roshan at the box office on day 1

Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan‘s Raees locked horns with Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam‘s Kaabil at the box office as the films released simultaneously on January 25.

While both the films were neck and neck going into the release, Raees has emerged as the clear winner on day 1.

At the domestic box office, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees (Rs 20.42 crore) has a huge lead over Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil (Rs 10.43 crore).

Raees started off better with an occupancy of about 70 per cent throughout the day across India. Whereas Kaabil, on the other hand, registered an average occupancy of 45-50 per cent.

However, the makers have nothing to worry as it is just the first day and things can change anytime, anywhere.

Kaabil has got better reviews and a better word of mouth publicity than Raees. This could give Kaabil the push it needs to overtake Raees in the coming days.
