Basu Chatterjee Passes away at 90

Legendary Director Basu Chatterjee Passed away at the age of 93 in Mumbai on Thursday. Chatterjee passed away at his residence here in Mumbai due to age-related ailments, His last rites will be performed today at Santacruz cremation at 2 pm.

The news of Chatterjee 's demise was shared by Indian Film & TV Directors’ Association president Ashoke Pandit on Twitter. He wrote, "I am extremely grieved to inform you all the demise of Legendary Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee ji . His last rites will be performed today at Santacruz cremation at 2 pm. It’s a great loss to the industry. Will miss you Sir. #RIPBasuChaterjee."

Basu was best known for his films like Chhoti Si Baat, Chitchor, Rajnigandha, Piya Ka Ghar, Khatta Meetha , Chameli Ki Shaadi , Chakravyuha, Baton Baton Mein, among others. Chameli Ki Shaadi was Chatterjee's last commercially successful movie.He also did shows for doordarshan.

Basu Chatterjee was master of middle-of-the-road cinema, his movie always has a role reserved for Mumbai City, blooming romance in BEST Buses to Gateway of India in background. He made middle class his hero.
